Cancun is the gateway to the Yucatan peninsula and arguably the official party zone in Mexico. If it is gorgeous sunny beaches with aquamarine waters you crave and vibrant nightlife, look no further! But you may be wondering, is Cancun open?

Well, you’re in luck, because Cancun reopened for tourism back in June, and they are doing an impressive job of containing the spread of the Coronavirus in Cancun hotels, beaches and other popular tourist spots.

Cancun’s famous shoreline is full of all-inclusive and luxury resorts with easy access to the beach, many of which have gained “Best Beach in the World” status. But Cancun offers much more than a great beach party and nightlife scene.

When you book a Cancun all-inclusive vacation package, all of the details are sorted and you are free to enjoy a relaxing holiday under the Mexican sun.

Things to Do in Cancun

Discover the Hotel Zone – Cancun has two sections. Ciudad (downtown) and Cancun Island (Zona Hotelera). Undoubtedly, this hotel zone is near many popular tourist spots; it is synonymous with large resorts, catamarans, exciting nightlife, and yes, more beaches! Shaped like the number 7, the “zone” is a 15-mile-long stretch of beach and is where most people stay when they come to Cancun. The illustrious Kukulcan Boulevard is the main drag that follows this stretch of beach and has much of the feel of the Las Vegas strip.

Downtown Cancun is there for you when you want to get away from the tourist crowd. This area provides a nice respite from the party atmosphere, lending a bit of culture to your stay. Downtown is where many of the locals live and play. Wander down to Avenida Tulum and experience the “real” Cancun, raw and unfiltered. There is a nice park called Parque Las Palapas for people watching, and when you’re feeling puckish, sample the sumptuous street food.

Swim in a Cenote – The amazing Yucatan Peninsula is well-known for its cenotes, which are limestone caves with natural poos, perfect for a swim. Take advantage of so many different cenotes, where you can swim, snorkel, or scuba dive in crystal clear waters. Some of the best cenotes are found along the Ruta De Cenotes near Puerto Morelos, about a half-hour by car from Cancun.

Go Zip Lining in the Jungle – For those who seek something a little more adrenaline-pumping, zip-lining in Mexico is not only exciting, it is beautiful. Cancun offers some of the most dramatic zip lines on the planet, so adventurers really cannot pass this up. Selvatica, located a few miles south of Cancun, is a great theme park offering multiple packages with ten different zip lines!

Costs can quickly pile up during a vacation if you are paying for everything out of pocket. If you want a worry-free vacation, an all-inclusive vacation package starts to make sense. While they don’t pay for every conceivable vacation cost, all-inclusive resorts work primarily for people who have a budget they want to stick to. It is a way of guaranteeing you have all the essentials locked down, and this gives you the peace of mind that whatever you do with your cash, all the other things are taken care of. You won’t save a lot on an all-inclusive vacation if you go out exploring, but worry-free spending should not be underrated.

Cancun is such a lovely place, but most people end up only revolving around the hotel zone. In Cancun, let a few of your controls go and be free. Don’t limit yourself to the hotel zone, don’t miss trying the street food—it’s heavenly, and don’t lose your hotel bracelet.
