You can find hotel rooms, apartments, bed and breakfasts, guest houses and hostels in Nuremberg. There are plenty of great accommodation options in every price range. Here is a sample of what you can expect.

The Hotel Dreil Raben is a funky hotel with just 22 rooms which are all unique and different. Each room tells a story and with names like “The Goose Man’s Fountain” and “The Time Machine” you should be tempted to try this theme hotel. You will have fun staying at this hotel and their bar is very cool too.

Gasthaus Rottner is a family-run hotel with two properties. One is a contemporary hotel and one is a traditional wooden guest house. On the outskirts of Nuremberg, this accommodation option is quiet and peaceful and the service is outstanding.

Things to Do

We always love to start exploring in the old town because those charming European old towns seem to draw you back several times during your trip. With traditional markets, old wooden houses and quaint streets, Nuremberg is one of those lovable medieval old towns. Handwerkerhof Market has all the souvenirs and traditional crafts you could wish for. When you get tired of shopping, you can stop at a rustic Bavarian restaurant to enjoy a beer or some traditional food.

St. Lorenzkirche or St. Lawrence Church is a stunning Gothic place of worship with many important works of art and awe-inspiring stained glass windows. Built between 1243 and1315, it is one of the most important churches in the area. You can take a church or tower tour or maybe catch a concert and hear one of the largest organs in Europe.

Germanisches National Museum is home to the oldest globe in the world. Dating back to 1492, you won’t even find America on the map. As well as this famous globe, there are thousands of exhibits to admire. The museum, which was founded in 1852, is Germany’s largest museum of cultural history.

Nuremberg Castle is one of Europe’s most imposing medieval fortifications and this imperial castle will be a highlight of your visit. The impressive castle was home to every emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1050 to 1571. Explore the double chapel, the Knight’s Hall and the imperial Hall with well-preserved architecture and many interesting artifacts in the museum. The gardens are also gorgeous, so make sure to factor in plenty of time to see this Barvarian gem.

Go back to your childhood at the Toy Museum, which displays cute dollhouses and handmade toys. You can see toys from ancient times to the present day and imagine all the fun children had playing throughout the ages. The museum, which opened in 1971, is considering one of the best toy museums in the world.

When it comes to food, Nuremberg is a tasty destination. Some say the best German sausage is served up in Nuremberg. To test the bold claim head to the Bratwursthäusle at St. Sebald in the centre of town. Meat lovers won’t be disappointed with the menu. There are so many great restaurants, from casual restaurants to fine dining. If you see a place packed with locals, you will know it must be good. Don’t forget to try pork knuckle, Rinderroulade (beef roll) and Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancake) before you finish your vacation. Of course, you always have the opportunity to wash your meal down with some great German beer. There are some quality food and drink tours which is always a great way to learn about a city in your first few days of arriving.
