About Boston

New England is home to Boston, an innovative and personable city on the east coast of the United States. Boston has a world class, New England style, award-winning restaurant scene and is also home to some of the most coveted historical sites in the U.S. Visitors marvel at the city’s cobblestone streets, vibrant neighbourhoods, the antique buildings of Harvard University, and the amount of history that sits in just one city. Boston’s rich history mixed with the grit and passion of Bostonians makes Boston what it is today.

General Weather

If you aren’t a fan of the cold, avoid the Boston area during the winter months. It gets very cold and snow piles up quickly. However, Boston is a great city to visit in the summer and fall months – the summers are warm and you can watch the trees turn different colours in the crisp fall weather. One constant for Boston is that it can be overcast or partly cloudy year round.

The Best Months to Visit

We recommend visiting Boston between June and September. March through May tends to be rainy and overcast, while the winter months are frigid and snow covers the city.

Where to Stay

For a trendy and cool option, stay at The Verb Hotel. This spot typically attracts a younger crowd with its vintage style décor and posh amenities, like their outdoor pool and in-house record collection. Did we mention each room comes with its own record player and sound system? Yeah, this spot is cool.

If you are seeking a touch of elegance and grandeur, check out The Eliot Hotel. We would classify the Eliot as a boutique hotel with just 95 rooms. All of the rooms are decorated very nicely and guests receive a complimentary pass to the Boston Sports Club for the duration of their stay, which is just around the corner. The hotel is also home to Uni, one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city of Boston.

Lastly, for a truly iconic stay in Boston, head to the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Any native to the Boston city area can spot the Fairmont in Copley Plaza – it has been a staple in the city since the 1910s, and sits next to the Boston Public Library. While WiFi is not complimentary, guests have access to a state of the art gym during their stay and a roof deck with the best views of the city.

Things to Do

For a taste of historical Boston, we recommend embarking on the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is a designated 2.5 mile path through the most historic parts of Boston, passing at least 16 historic landmarks and sites that depict the birth of America. This is a great way to get your steps in and explore the Georgian architecture and historic culture of the city.

Right in downtown Boston is the historic Quincy Market, a gathering and retail space for locals and tourists! There are over 50 shops and a great selection of restaurants for visitors to enjoy during their stroll through the market. Quincy Market was also home to Boston’s most well-known comedy club, Comedy Connection, which ceased operations in 2010. However, there are many comedy clubs around the Quincy Market area, keeping the spirit of laughter alive.

Popular Place to Visit

When we think of the birth of America, we think of Boston and tea being dumped into the Boston Harbor. While the harbor certainly doesn’t taste like tea, the Boston Harbor Islands are now one of the most popular attractions for the city of Boston. This attraction is made up of 34 islands and peninsulas, making up the official Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park. This is a great thing to check out if you enjoy relaxing walks through nature and a different view of the Boston city skyline.

Places to Eat

Head to Porter Square to try some of the best ramen in the city at Yume Wo Katare. Yume Wo Katare is well known for their seasonal specials, but also offer staples like Jiro-style ramen. This ramen is pork heavy and they never skimp out on portion sizes. You can also add extra noodles or extra meat, which are two common desires for any ramen enthusiast.

For a truly immersive dining experience, make a reservation for Celeste. Located in Union Sqaure, this space celebrates art, culture and design in their restaurant ambiance while packing tons of flavour in their food. Celeste specializes in Peruvian and Andean cuisine, with bright and colourful food options such as their ceviche, stews and more.
