Millionaires Row Lake Muskoka

Feb 16 , 2021 · 4 min read

The large, glassy surface of Ontario’s Lake Muskoka sits just between Gravenhurst and Port Carling. The first inhabitants on record were indigenous peoples, mainly of the Algonquin and Huron tribes, although the name Muskoka comes from Musquakie, an Ojibwe or Chippewa chief who signed the treaty selling 250,000 acres of land to the Province of Ontario.

Lake Muskoka’s Millionaires Row is known as Billionaires Row. Today the shores of this glittering expanse are lined with the homes of Hollywood’s rich and famous, star athletes, and other captains of industry. If you have ever imagined yourself living an episode of the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” in person, a visit to this lakeside hideaway is for you!

Dotting the shores of Lake Muskoka are palatial “cottages” (more like mansions), with their shingled rooftops and wraparound sundecks peeking through the canopy of trees surrounding the water.

Ontario’s Lake Muskoka

Residents include Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, many professional NHL players, and old-money families like the Carnegies. Homes in this area tend to be heritage homes and are passed down through families over the years.

Rest by the lake

The best way to see some of these homes is by taking a river cruise with a local tour company. The Lady Muskoka is a three-level, 104-foot-long watercraft that navigates the waters of Lake Muskoka, offering guests a unique view of the water, flora, fauna, and of course – billionaires row muskoka! These tours are just under three hours long and make a sweeping circle of the entire lake, ensuring that you have a chance to see all the lakeside homes and hopefully some of the local wildlife among the towering trees.

With a mouthwatering lunch served onboard during your voyage, and a knowledgeable guide pointing out sights not to be missed and narrating your journey with fun facts, it is no wonder that this is the #1 ranked tour at the lake!

Even with a passenger capacity of 300 guests, tickets for this tour should be arranged in advance whenever possible as it can fill up quickly.

If you prefer to take matters into your own hands, there are many options for watercraft and boat rentals along the lake. You can rent from your choice of pontoon boats, jet skis, and more, and then take to the waters of Lake Muskoka on your own.

As a one-stop shop for all your travel plans, Trip Support can assist you with booking your travels to Lake Muskoka. When you book through www.tripsupport.ca, you are eligible for their “Book Now, Pay Later” program.
